Dennistoun Bar-B-Que

Dennistoun Bar-B-Que: For my final blog post I will be addressing my recent visit to Dennistoun Bar-B-Que. This restaurant is located in the centre of Dennistoun, just a short walk east of the city centre. Inside the restaurant is industrial with the kitchen open and visible in part to the those in the seating area. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at around 6:00 on Thursday night so we were able to easily find seats.     Dennistoun Bar-B-Que offers a large variety of Barbequed quiesces like burgers, buns filled with pulled meats and a number of classic BBQ sides. Orders are placed by customers directly into the kitchen and are paid at that time. I ordered the beef brisket bun which came with pickles and slaw; however, fries were not included. The cost of the bun was £8.95.  The restaurant also offers a range of different drinks and more craft beers than would conventionally be offered.     The food took around 10 minuets to be served. The portion s...

Bucks Bar

Bucks Bar: In this blog post I will discuss Bucks bar. Bucks bar have two locations in Glasgow: one of these is on West Regent Street, and the other in Trongate, around the Merchant city area. This restaurant is surrounded by other eateries and offers a large indoor seating space with bar, as well as a number of smaller outside seats covered with parasols. I visited bucks bar on a Friday afternoon, the restaurant was very busy, and we were fortunate to seated without a reservation. The Bucks bar menu is largely based around their offerings of burgers, and more specifically, chicken burgers. With numerous different kinds to choose from, along with sides, portions of wings and vegetarian options there is no shortage of options. I chose to order the ‘Salt’n’Chilli Chicken burger’, which came with fries included, as well as  a Nutella milkshake. The cost of the burger and chips was £12.95 (although there are cheaper options) and the cost of the milkshake £4.50.  The food was ...

BLOC+

BLOC+: For this week’s instalment of the GlasgowEats blog I visited BLOC+. BLOC+ is located on bath streets and sits below street level, with a small outdoor seating area. We were able to be seated straight away, this is not always possible as it can be busy and the restaurant doesn’t currently take bookings. Inside the restaurant is very casual with a relaxed atmosphere.       One of the appeals of BLOC+ is the deals that they offer on every day of the week with a different cuisine discounted each day: -         Monday- Macaroni cheese (£3) -         Tuesday- Steak burger (£3) -         Wednesday- Steak (£5) -         Thursday- Kentucky fried chicken breasts (£4) -         Friday- Hotdog (£4) In addition to these special discounted menu items there is also a large range of other options that run at ...

Locale Taco Tuesday

Locale Taco Tuesday:  For my second blog entry I will be exploring the Locale pub and more specifically the deals that they offer on a Tuesday. The Locale is located at the end of North Street, just off the motorway, and although there is large amounts of traffic noise at the front of the bar, once inside this disappears and can also not be heard from the beer garden at the rear of the property.  The appeal of visiting the locale on a Tuesday is the taco and frozen margarita discounts that are offered. The frozen margaritas were freshly mixed and very refreshing, this paired with a price tag of only £3 was a large positive for the Locale. There are three different options in regard to the tacos, a battered fish, special beef, and chicken filling. When ordering, the tacos come in sets of 3, costing only £3. To start with I chose to try the beef and chicken tacos, receiving three of each, before ultimately ordering the fish as well. The taste and freshness was excellent, and the...

Bar Soba

Bar Soba:  This blog will explore different food locations around Glasgow and give an account of my experience. In this first entry I will discuss the meal that I recently had at Bar Soba with a couple of my friends. This restaurant has three locations within Glasgow, however we decided to go to the one situated inside merchant square. This is an open plan indoor area with a number of restaurants located inside and provides a good atmosphere within the restaurant.       We arrived at around 6:45 and after a short wait of around 5 minuets we were quickly seated. The restaurant itself is modern with a large number of small tables located both on the ground floor of the restaurant and on a raised balcony which overlooks the outdoor seating area (while still being technically inside). The server was very helpful, explaining the order process, which was different to usual due to Covid, as well as revealing that we would be eligible for 50% of all food and 25% of drin...
